Long Beach Day: Retro Row

by Gabrielle Antonette and Carrie Nusbaum

In Long Beach, our girl Chelsea lives just down the street from the 4th Street shops—an area also known as Retro Row. We got into town around lunch time so, perhaps naturally, our first stop was for food. We ate at Number Nine, a trendy little vietnamese place. It's a small restaurant which (according to Yelp reviews) can get pretty busy, but it was nice and quiet when we were there, the food was tasty, and the decor soothing. They also graciously accommodated our rather large group, which was appreciated. We continued on to peruse the local shops, including...

...among others. There are a number of well-curated boutiques in the area. Port was one of our favorites. Ironically enough, the local bookstore, Open, was actually closed when we first stopped by. Luckily Portfolio Coffeehouse is just up the street. We grabbed a coffee, took a little break, and then returned to browse the books.
