We met some friends at Grand Central Market on a recent Sunday to have lunch at Horse Thief BBQ and chit chat and whatnot. Grand Central is an interesting spot, undergoing many changes as new higher-end eateries open up among the previously existing stands. You can still find some of the cheapest produce around (like 10 avocados for a dollar or something equally suspicious), AND there's an ice cream place that charges <$2 per scoop, Jose's Ice Cream Corner! Ice Cream Dream.* Grand Central Market is located at 317 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90013. Angel's Flight Railway sadly wasn't operating, but we still walked up and around California Plaza, which is sort of hilariously manicured, and also mostly empty on the weekends.
*Update: Jose's is out and McConnell's Fine Ice Creams is in. This is sad in some ways, but objectively, the ice cream is much tastier (albeit about twice the price). We can't be mad because we love McConnell's, so we're moving forward.
