by Gabrielle Antonette and Satsuki Shibuya
Satsuki Shibuya is a painter I admire quite a bit, and her message resonates far beyond her delicate, pretty brushwork. Satsuki intends on living a balanced and mindful life, and through her art, she teaches us how to appreciate subtleties and detail--to be more mindful as well. She has shared images and thoughts from her recent trip to Japan. More of her paintings can be found on her site , shop, and Instagram. All work below courtesy of the artist.
A recent trip to Japan whisked me away on a journey, far from the everyday, into what life could be if one were to let go and be.
Snippets of moments, when catching my breath, reminded me of the beauty in being in touch with others from foreign countries, only to find the gap between us is created are placed not by actual separation, but through our minds.
Whether young or old, each person met radiated with spirit, having a story to share or a dream being brought into fruition. Those who might have veered off onto another path continue in search of their existence.
You, me, we.
The dreams we see,
are not much different,
as we come from the same tree.
